Application

1. Catalyst in chemical reactions: It can be used as a catalyst between boric acid esters and sodium azide to promote the decomposition of boric acid esters.

2. Surfactant: used as a wetting agent, thickener, defoaming agent, etc.

3. Can improve compatibility between pigments or inorganic fillers and organic polymers or solvents, allow easy pigment or mineral filler dispersion.

4. When diluted with an appropriate solvent, octyltriethoxysilane can be used in the formulation of water repellent products like silicone water repellent paint. Upon proper application, the formulated product will penetrate and provide water repellency by chemically reacting with the cementitious substrate. Treated substrates are hydrophobic and retain their original appearance.

5. Octyltriethoxysilane, OCTEO silane, is used as a surface modifier to generate hydrophobictity (e.g. concrete, glass, inorganic pigments, or mineral fillers).

Packaging and Storage

Triethoxyoctylsilane is generally a low-toxic substance, but the following safety precautions should still be taken:

1.Keep away from open flames and high temperature environments when using it to avoid combustion or explosion.

2. Wear appropriate protective gloves, goggles and protective clothing during operation.

3. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or mucous membranes. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water.

4. Avoid inhaling its vapor. If inhaled too much, leave the contaminated area quickly and breathe fresh air.

5. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from fire and flammable materials.
