A Brief Discussion on the Application of Spherical Silicone Resin HOCON®HC1811 in the Makeup

HOCON®HC1811 spherical silicone resin is prepared by hydrolysis and polycondensation in two steps using MTMS and other raw materials.


Silicone resin is a highly cross-linked polysiloxane with a network structure. It is usually made of various mixtures of methyltrichlorosilane, dimethyldichlorosilane, or chlorosilane. In the presence of a solvent, it is hydrolyzed at a relatively low temperature to obtain an acidic hydrolyzate. The initial product of the hydrolysis is a mixture of cyclic, linear and cross-linked polymers, which usually also contains a considerable amount of hydroxyl groups. The hydrolyzate is washed with water to remove the acid, and the neutral initial polycondensate is further condensed by thermal oxidation in the air or in the presence of a catalyst, and finally a highly cross-linked three-dimensional network structure is formed.


HOCON®HC1811 spherical silicone resin is prepared by hydrolysis and polycondensation in two steps using MTMS and other raw materials. By adjusting the relevant conditions of the hydrolysis reaction and the polycondensation reaction, and characterizing the obtained products by infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and laser particle size analyzer, silicone resin microspheres with a particle size of about 1.2μm, narrow distribution, good sphericity, and no aggregation and adhesion were obtained.
