Application

(1) As a surface treatment agent: Methyltrimethoxysilane can be used as a treatment agent for glass, metal and plastic surfaces to improve wettability, anti-adhesion and wear resistance.

(2) As a silicone rubber monomer: It can be used as a monomer of silicone rubber and is used in the preparation of silicone rubber and silicone rubber.

(3) As an anti-adhesive agent: In the adhesive industry, methyltrimethoxysilane can be used as an anti-adhesive agent to reduce the viscosity of glue on mechanical equipment.

(4) Organo silanes are highly miscible with standard organic solvents, such as alcohols, hydrocarbons and acetone.

(5) Practically insoluble in neutral water and reacts only slowly to form silanols and higher condensation products. Addition of a hydrolytic catalyst (inorganic/organic acids, ammonia or amines) accelerates the hydrolysis of SiSiB® PC5131 Methyltrimethoxysilane substantially.

(6) Be used as an important component in sol-gel systems.

(7) Alkyl alkoxy silane is also used in the production of silicone resins and condensation-curing silicone rubber.

(8) Methyltrimethoxysilane is used mainly to render a wide range of surfaces and materials water repellent (e.g. mineral fillers, pigments, glass, cardboard). MTMS silane CAS 1185 55 3 may be used pure or in solution to treat fillers, using suitable mixing equipment. It may be necessary to first pre-treat the substrate with water and/or a catalyst.

(9) The most common alkoxy silane crosslinking agents are methoxy or ethoxy silanes due to their high reactivity. The reaction precedes by nucleophilic substitution usually in the presence of acid or base catalysts. Alkoxides react directly with silanols or with water to produce silanols. The newly formed silanols can react with other alkoxides or self-condense to produce a siloxane bond and water.

(10) When an acid catalyst is used, protonation of the alkoxysilane increases the reactivity of the leaving group. When a base catalyst is used, deprotonation of the silanol forms a reactive silonate anion. The by-product of the reaction is an alcohol. Common metal catalysts for these reactions are alkoxytitanium derivatives and dibutyltin dicarboxylates.

During storage, it is not allowed to contact with open flames, and should be kept ventilated and dry. It should not contact with acids. The storage temperature is -45℃～45℃.

During transportation, it should be protected from rain and sunlight. It should be stored and transported as dangerous goods.
